Cycling on Cape Ann

This 30 mile ride starts from the commuter rail station in Manchester by the Sea, an attractive town that marks the beginning of Cape Ann. Rt. 127 takes you to Ocean Street where you'll ride by a couple of beautiful coves, then on to Shore Rd. in Magnolia for some of the most beautiful ocean views in New England.

Stage Fort Park is the entry to Gloucester, with its famous memorial statues of a fisherman and his family. Experienced cyclists continue on Roger St. and East Main Street to the Eastern Point Lighthouse and Atlantic Road for their wonderful ocean views. The long route continues along the coast to Rockport. Head back through Gloucester's charming Main Street, turn west on Rt. 113 and then right on Concord and Lufkin Streets which wind past glacial deposits and marshes to Essex. Southern Ave. takes you back to Manchester.
